How to read a tuition table
Look for year-level rows, sibling discounts, and whether outdoor education or device programmes are inside the tuition line or billed later.
If a school quotes “all-inclusive”, ask what is excluded. Camps, rowing tours and private music almost never are.

Why the split exists
Day students already pay for teaching, most campus facilities and the senior programme. Boarders pay that line plus a residential line: a bed, meals, evening supervision and the house programme. Mixing the two is how January invoices surprise households who budgeted “the number we saw on a forum”.
Sometimes published tuition for boarders matches the day rate. Sometimes there is a boarding-specific package. Ask for line items, not a single total. If a school says “all inclusive”, ask what is excluded. Camps, rowing tours and private music almost never are.
Senior years
Many schools step tuition up in Years 11–12. Do not multiply a Year 7 figure by six and call it a senior budget. Confirm the year-level table. Boarding can step too, or stay flat while tuition moves. Get both columns.
Scholarships attach unevenly
Many awards attach to tuition and leave boarding untouched. Some reverse that. Some review annually. Read the instrument. See scholarships.

A worked vocabulary for the first email
“Please send the tuition-by-year table and the boarding-by-year table for domestic students entering Year 9. Please mark whether outdoor education, devices and compulsory camps sit inside tuition. Please mark whether boarders pay the day rate or a different tuition column.” That email is boring and usable. A request for “the total cost of boarding” is how you get a marketing sentence.
